Judging Criteria / Technical Regulations:

*Judges decisions are final (no protests)*

*Judges reserve the right to use their discretion to increase/decrease the severity of deductions/incomplete criteria*

Lead Driver Requirements:

- fill designated zones and clipping points (100 point run)
- run a smooth chaseable line

- do not decel outside of designated decel zones

- throttle commitment and fluid transitions are rewarded

Chase Driver Requirements:

- follow the lead driver's line while mimicking their angle (use the lead car as a moving clipping point unless they are leading you into danger)

- maintain consistent proximity (as close to the lead car as possible) surging will be deducted at Judges’ discretion

Start Line Criteria:

-GR will utilize a light system for the start line

-Lead car is not to leave the line until the lights are fully extinguished

-Lead car is to leave the line after lights are fully extinguished in reasonable amount of time (1-2 seconds)

-Judges discretion on restarts

-Lead car cannot make contact with start chicane cones

-Lead car is on a three-strike system. For example: If lead car sleeps on the line, jumps the start, or hits a cone three times (any of these or combination of), that lead run will be deemed a zero.

-chase cars front wheel is to be no further back than the lead cars rear wheel *not up for debate*

-chase car can roll the start line (leave before lights extinguish)

What constitutes an incomplete?

- 3 tires off course

- unchaseable lead (Judges’ discretion)

- inactive chase (more than 1 entire zone behind lead driver)

- spin

- straightening

- opposite drift

- run ending contact

- late/non initiation (after the 1 cone)

- 3 motion entry

What constitutes a major deduction?

- 2 tires off course

- unforced contact

- missing zone(s)/clip(s)

- contacting lead car in decel zone

- impeding lead driver on entry

- decel outside of designated decel zones

- understeer (judges’ discretion)

- Judges will expect a similar lead entry in competition as you’ve practiced/qualified; failure to do this will result in deductions

What constitutes a minor deduction?

- 1 tire off course

- surging/inconsistent proximity

- wavering/corrections

- shallow on zones/wide on inner clips

5 Minute Timeouts

Drivers will be allotted one 5 min call to make a repair at any given time during their elimination rounds.

However, with the one exception being fault given to the other driver - by contact or cause of contact - an additional 10 min call will be allowed.

Drivers will be given the time between rounds to make the repair. If they cannot make it to the start line by the time of their next run, they will unfortunately need to forfeit.

- Teams must not touch the vehicle until a BCDA official is present with a timer.

- Teams may get the vehicle in the air in a safe manner, to quickly assess any damage and/or tools may be required, **only once an official has arrived ** (^Teams will be given 5 min to do this^)

- Once the car is safely in the air, the timer of 5 minutes will start, and teams will have 5 minutes to rectify their issues and have the vehicle on the ground and running before the timer ends. Failure to do so will result in DQ

Tire Debeads:

In the event of a tire debeading on course, the vehicle will not be allowed to leave the line with a currently debeaded or previously debeaded tire. Rear Tire changes will not be allowed during Competition Timeout unless debeading has occurred or rim/tire damage due to a collision. Rear Tires are required to make two consecutive runs. If debeading
occurs by collision with course, wall, or surface, Judges will decide which occurred first; the collision or the debead. If debeading occurred prior to the collision, the vehicle will not be allowed to leave the line with a currently debeaded or previously debeaded tire. If the collision results in a debeaded tire, then the wheel and or tire may be changed. If rear tires are changed, the other competitor may also change rear tires.

Changes to Rules and Specifications:

BCDA reserves the right to change or add any rule, regulation, or specification by written bulletin. These bulletins will be sent out via e-mail to the current competitors and staff, as well as being posted at the BCDA Facebook messenger group chats (refer to Registration for access). The BCDA staff have the authority to make adjustments to all rule books at any time if deemed necessary. Teams and drivers are
responsible for ensuring they conform to the current rules or bulletins.
